Warsaw is the capital of Poland and its largest city. It has the status of distriktsnivåby, and is an important center of culture, science, politics and industry. Warsaw is located on the Vistula River, about 350 km south of the Baltic Sea and as far north of the Carpathians. The city, which is also the capital of the Masovian Voivodeship, is home to include 66 institutions of higher education (including Uniwersytet Warszawski and Politechnika Warszawska), over 30 theaters (National Theatre, National Opera and the National Philharmonic), and many industrial companies in sectors including steel production, electrical engineering and automotive. Warsaw's old town is inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List.

The city is internationally known for giving the name to the Warsaw Pact, Warsaw Convention and the Warsaw Treaty.

Walking the streets of the Old Town and New Town allows a you to rest from the bustle of central city life. Atmospheric alleys, squares, and cozy cafés create a unique sense of history, and in the summer, the Old and New Town Squares Become stages for musical and theatrical performances and open-air galleries.

The park and palace complex that Royal Baths are one of the most beautiful of this type in Europe. Established in the 17th century, the landscape gardens feature many interesting architectural monuments, the Most Important of which include the Palace on the Island built for King Stanislaw August Poniatowski - Poland's last monarch. It served as his summer residence and was famous for the Sunday dinners.

Although Warsaw's menus feature traditional Polish cuisine, food from around the world can be found at the many restaurants suited to all tastes. The cheapest - Milk Bars - are an attraction offering a slice of years past. One of Warsaw's culinary symbols is Undoubtedly sweet - quite literally! Try the 'Zygmuntówka', jelly-filled donuts from Blikle, or Wedel chocolate.
