Maho Beach
Category: Zoos and Aquariums

Maho Beach is a beach on Sint Maarten. It is famous due to Princess Juliana International Airport that is related to beach. In order to land at the airport, the planes fly in minimal elevation of the beach. It has become so popular that the schedule for the aircraft are displayed on a board in most bars and restaurants on the beach.

There is a danger of people standing on the beach can be blown out of the water. The local authorities have set up alerts on the fences around the airport.

The beach itself is made up of white sand and has little or no vegetation due to the planes flying right over.

16th October 2008 was Maho area heavily damaged by Hurricane Omar. The hurricane reduced the beach to boulders.
